ON October 11 and 12 the Eyre Highway Motorcycle Gymkhana Club held another successful weekend with great motorcycle racing for the family on the Saturday and Pony Express for senior riders on the Sunday, raising money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and St John Ambulance. This is a huge effort from a small band of committee to run such an event.
With 100 riders and approximately 200 people through the gate, a great weekend was had by all. Rider numbers were down by about 40 riders. Many competitors travelled from the Goldfields, Hopetoun and Esperance.
On Saturday morning a riders’ meeting was held to let everyone know how the weekend was to run. Racing began at 9am with the first event being the Obstacle Race. Three other events were held on Saturday they were the Scramble Race, Bending Race, Flag and Barrel Race and Barrel Race.
On Saturday night after the barbecue tea three vehicles competed in the Mudbog 4x4 Competition. Brad Casey and Dean Bow performed to the crowd in the Brad’s 2008 Polaris RZR, completing the course with no hesitation.
