Man trapped in car

14/05/2008 12:18:00 PM
AN Esperance man has been flown to Perth with suspected serious spinal injuries after rolling his vehicle on Stockyards Road.

Marking the commencement of a hectic weekend for emergency services, the accident occurred at about 9.30pm Friday night, when the 43-year old lost control of his Toyota Landcruiser and rolled.

The man remained trapped in his vehicle for almost 12 hours until he was finally seen by a passer-by at 8.30am Saturday morning.

Police, Fire and Rescue and an Ambulance attended the scene and the man was conveyed to the Esperance Hospital before being transported to Perth by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Senior Sergeant Paul Humphries said that the man was very familiar with road, having travelled along it frequently.

“It serves as a timely reminder not to become complacent,” he said.

“Road users must travel within safe limits according to the limits of the road, otherwise the consequences can be tragic.”
